My Gluten-free journey...

2011 say a lot of changes in my life: I resigned from a demanding job that I loved, our son got married, our daughter moved, and I  began to notice that my body and brain were not functioning at the capacity I was used to. I love to have multiple projects going, plates to spin, and ideas to nurture and I found myself dropping those plates with more and more frequency. I often felt like i was standing outside of my body and brain because it just didn't feel like "me."

Low grade nausea, joint pain, occasional restless leg, middle of the night racing brain, and upset bowels was my normal and I never REALLY paid attention, I just soldiered on.

In 2010 I began to experience dragging fatigue, foggy brain/racing brain, increased anxiety, increased insomnia and restless leg, drenching, rain-forest hot-flashes, and aching joints. By 2011 when I resigned from my job these symptoms were taking over my life.

I thought I just needed to take time to rest and recover from a 20-year run of a work-a-holic lifestyle. But 2011 turned to 2012 and still no relief. In fact, most of the symptoms only got worse.

I consulted doctors, therapists, naturopaths, friends, blogs, websites, etc. and I got some relief but not full relief.

One morning as I was praying and meditating I had a sense of God speaking to my spirit that gluten was the issue for me. Knowing I wasn't celiac I began to research gluten sensitivity, gluten intolerance, and wheat allergies and found that I fit all of the symptoms of what the Mayo Clinic calls Non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

I decided right then to trust that this was indeed God speaking to me with wisdom and insight and began to cut gluten out of my diet.

I talked it over with my husband and decided to give this a 30-day trial run and pay close attention to the results.

Within a week I noticed a difference, the hot-flashes were not nearly as frequent or intense, I was sleeping better, my stomach felt better, and my energy level was increasing. By the end of the month I was a convert and have lived a healthier, happier, and stronger gluten-free life since then.

I promise my husband that I wouldn't become a Gluten-Free evangelist! However, as a professional coach who supports people in living their best personal and professional life I have to share this good news and be a support for those who want to make this change in their life.

Welcome to your Gluten-Free Journey!
